John Samani, MD
Dr. John Samani is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a partner in the Institute for Athletic Medicine, an orthopedics and sports-medicine practice based in Auburn Hills, Mich. He founded the practice in 2000.
Dr. Samani graduated from the University of Nebraska and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Vermont followed by a fellowship at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center. There he performed specialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopic and reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery. While in Minneapolis, Dr. Samani enjoyed the privilege of working with professional athletes in the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves organizations. He also worked with many athletes at university and high school levels. Dr. Samani still provides medical care for the Twins when they play in the Detroit area. He currently serves as team physician for the Oakland County Cruisers Frontier League professional baseball team.

Tom Perkins, DO
Dr. Thomas Perkins is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a partner in the Institute for Athletic Medicine, an orthopaedics and sports-medicine practice based in Auburn Hills, Mich. He joined the practice in 2001 as an associate and became partner in 2002.
When not in surgery or seeing patients, Dr. Perkins teaches medical students at Michigan State University, where he is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties. He also served as director of MSU's orthopaedic surgery residency program at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Perkins is affiliated with Beaumont - Troy, Crittenton Hospital, Pontiac Regional Medical Center, UnaSource Surgery Center (Troy), Clarkston Surgery Center, Bald Mountain Surgical Center and Waterford Surgical Center.

Hassan Alosh, MD
Hassan Alosh, MD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee joint preservation and reconstruction. Dr. Alosh utilizes minimally-invasive approaches for knee replacement, anterior hip replacement, partial joint replacement, and joint preservation. He has performed over 1000 joint replacement operations and is one of a handful of surgeons in the area to utilize the anterior approach for hip replacement, an approach that spares muscle and has no restrictions after surgery.
Dr. Alosh has trained at the nation's top institutions. He obtained his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University, where he was awarded a research grant to perform ground-breaking studies on surgical outcomes.

Teresa Schroeder, FNP-C
Teresa Schroeder is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner who joined the IAM team in October 2017.
She grew up in the Metro Detroit area, attending L'Anse Creuse High School. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, and Masters of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. As an RN, she worked in the Trauma/Burn ICU and Cardiac Surgery ICU at the University of Michigan Hospital for 5 years. As an NP, she has worked at a walk-in clinic, and with an orthopedic spine surgery team.
Teresa enjoys spending time with her husband Nick, as well as extended family and friends. She loves running, biking, yoga, hiking, triathlons, traveling, cooking, and cheering for the Wolverines.
Surgical Coordinator to Dr. John Samani
Kelsey has been working at the Institute for Athletic Medicine since 2012. She currently serves as Dr. John Samani's surgical coordinator.
Kelsey has worked as a physical therapy exercise technician, front desk specialist and strength and conditioning coach. Kelsey holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Oakland University, where she also was a two-sport varsity athlete in Softball and Cross Country.
Surgical Coordinator to Dr. Thomas Perkins
Jane has been surgical coordinator to Dr. Thomas Perkins since 2014. When out of the office, you are sure to find Jane at home on her farm, enjoying her family, her horses and her dogs! A lifelong equestrian and lover of all things outdoors, camping with her horses is one of her favorite pastimes.
Clinical Staff Supervisior
Tami is the mother of three children, and is an active fitness enthusiast, who loves swimming, weight lifting, and yoga. When she is not watching football games, or spending time with her family, Tami spends her time volunteering at Leader Dogs for the Blind, The American Cancer Society, and her church where she teaches self defense classes to battered and abused women and young women's self defense classes through the Troy Community Outreach. Tami holds a second degree black belt in Hapkido, a Form of Korean Martial Arts. Her favorite past-times are listening to music and Pinterest!
